There were some many great and not so great 80’s fads and fashions, and while many have actually survived and flourished in today’s contemporary fashion lines, there are some 80’s fads that that many of us wish we can just plainly forget. The eighties fads and fashions were famous and at times infamous for being over the top and for their overall complex colorful bright patterns.
During this great era of the 80s, many fads came and went, almost as fast as the one-hit wonders did. One of the most popular 80s fads at the time, was fashion inspirations from mega pop stars such as Madonna. During the 80s because of MTV videos and music, pop stars and rock stars had a very huge influence on the way people dressed, looked and acted, creating or sorts of fads and trends in the process. Popular Movies and TV programs as well had a very strong influence on the kids and pop-culture in the 80s.
For example, do you remember, rock star acid washed jeans, oversized shirts, women’s legwarmers, side ponytails for hair, MC Hammer parachute pants, players member’s only jackets? One of the most all the rage eighties fads was the super sexy inspirations from mega pop star Madonna, with her super sex appeal and use of black lace and pointy bustiers, she created quite a stir and controversy. Madonna had all the young woman going crazy trying to emulate her, all the young men wanting her and their parents being afraid of her.
Yes, I agree that the 80′s fads are the best, unique, and always interesting. Proven to date 80′s fads became the primary choice of the stars.

What memories. I remember when I was young watching madonna and mc hammer with their styles. Now i start to collect movies and songs from the 80′s.

Oh wow, I was only young myself during the 80′s but have to say I remember it all very well. I think the fashion is one of the first things I always think of when looking back at the 80′s, quiet a unique time in history. I’ve got a great fondness for 80′s music too, so many great artists producing unforgettable classics that still shine today. I will not be able to get the picture of mc hammer dancing in parachute pants out of my head all day now….. cheers.
He he, was young back then, but I surely remember these fads. Now, as I look back, can’t help but smile. I still believe some great music was done back then and, even if so crazy, the 80′s are one of the best decades. Let’s not forget MTV started broadcasting in the 80′s and it had a huge say in the fashion and not only there.

We used to watch 80s movies, and then keep on finding that same styled dress.
