MTV’s Teen Wolf Project
The 80’s seems to be hot right now and making a comeback in a big way again. There’s a new heathers TV series on the way and now MTV just gave the okay to a pilot presentation order based on the 1985 feature film Teen Wolf, which starred Michael J. Fox.
MTV had earlier announced the venture as part of its development slate in January. Jeff Davis of Criminal Minds fame is writing the teleplay, and also executive produces the pilot with Marty Adelstein and Rene Echevarria.
MTV has said its version of Teen wolf will have a more modern feel to it. “It has a fresh take and is very different from the original,” said Liz Gateley, senior VP at MTV series development. “It has more of an American Werewolf in London feel to it. It’s a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques.”
I guess only time will tell, if MTV can really bring back the wolfman with some sort of originality and entertainment without devaluing and rehashing the past.
